WE PROTECT WHAT WE LOVE

“Earth was created for all of us, not some of us.”

A PARTNERSHIP WITH NATURE

Much of Spring Island’s preservation, it’s measured approach to development and the continued education of Members and the larger community is thanks to the Spring Island Trust. Established in 1990 by the Chaffin/Light group with sights on developing Spring Island in a minimally invasive and sustainable way. This bold and fortuitous decision has no doubt had a profound effect on the unique community that Spring Island has grown into.

The Spring Island Trust manages the Island’s nature preserves and wildlife, sponsors educational and cultural programs for residents and provides technical expertise to the community on landscaping, land management, and other environmental issues.

TRUST TALKS

Go in depth with our Trust Talks program and spend an hour learning from nationally recognized guest speakers as well as our own Spring Island Trust staff including the Emmy Award winning host of Coastal Kingdom Tony Mills. The Trust Talks program gives Members a weekly opportunity to hear from one of these knowledgeable presenters on topics ranging from local wildlife to far-flung travels. Trust Talks are held in the Summer House, but may move outside into the Mobile Classroom, allowing Members to discover the island and its wildlife in a unique way. Preceded by cocktails and appetizers, Trust Talks are the perfect opportunity to expand horizons while feeling at home— many Members make the short walk to the nearby River House to enjoy dining together after a Talk.
